The Show Goes On! Tournament: A Tribute to Dylan Barrier and a Celebration of Community Spirit

The Combs Coyotes High School baseball team is excited to co-host the much-anticipated "The Show Goes On!" tournament on December 1st and 2nd at The Den, marking a new chapter in this event's inspiring history. This tournament, an annual event since 2019, is more than just a showcase of athletic talent; it's a heartfelt tribute to Dylan Barrier, a cherished student and baseball player from San Tan Foothills High School.

Dylan's story is both poignant and uplifting. In May 2019, a tragic skateboard accident led to a severe brain injury, and within days, Dylan's journey on this earth came to an end. However, his legacy began with a heroic decision. By fulfilling Dylan's wish to be an organ donor, his family enabled him to save eight lives, turning a moment of profound loss into a beacon of hope for others.

Remembered for his radiant presence and unwavering positive spirit, Dylan was a figure of motivation on the baseball field, often lifting his teammates during challenging times. To honor his memory, Dylan's mother, Stephanie, established the Dylan Barrier Memorial Scholarship and initiated "The Show Goes On!" baseball tournament. This annual event is a testament to Dylan's enduring impact and his family's commitment to keeping his spirit alive.

For the past four years, the tournament was exclusively held at San Tan Foothills High School. This year, however, marks a significant expansion, with the Combs Coyotes proudly co-hosting the event. This collaboration means more teams can participate and a larger community can engage in celebrating Dylan's life and legacy.

The tournament promises a weekend of competitive baseball and community spirit. Games are scheduled to start on Friday afternoon at 3pm, followed by more action on Saturday morning beginning at 9am and again at 11:30am. Attendees can indulge in tasty treats from Duck Donuts and Sun Snacks at The Den, offering a selection of donuts, coffee, hot dogs, and other snacks to energize fans.

The excitement will culminate on Saturday evening, with the semi-finals and championship game taking place under the lights at San Tan Foothills HS baseball field, starting at 6pm. This setting, symbolic of Dylan's journey, will be where the community gathers not just to witness a display of sportsmanship, but also to celebrate a life that continues to inspire and make a difference.

The event is not only a platform for high school athletes to showcase their skills but also a vital opportunity for the community to support a noble cause. Donations to the Dylan Barrier Memorial Scholarship fund can be made via Venmo, using the provided QR code, with a note for the DB Scholarship.

As the Combs Coyotes and other participating teams take to the field, they'll be playing for more than just victory; they'll be part of a legacy of resilience, hope, and community unity. We invite everyone to check out the game schedule and join us this weekend at The Den to cheer on the Combs Coyotes and contribute to a cause that truly embodies the spirit of "The Show Goes On!"
