  • DO BETTER!!!

    ,

This is an honest parent review. This school does not help support kids to succeed if they struggle within the classroom. Any signs of a child’s emotional/behavioral challenge, they are quick to discipline and dismiss the child then ask what could we do to help this child succeed. They are not equipped on navigating through teamwork and plan amongst to help a student succeed if a child continuously shows emotional/behavioral challenges that the student is struggling within themself. The principal is to quick to kick out a student then trying to help the families come up with a plan, find solutions, or recommendations to help the child succeed here. This school year has experienced so many kids kicked-out “the principal tells the family to remove their child”. I originally picked this school because of what the school promotes and I thought it fitting and perfect for my child who struggles. But unfortunately I was completely wrong. Also to add, the lack of communication is un-real. The principal would explain “your child has been doing this for weeks” and I as the parent was completely unaware and was never informed of anything until something is too late. How can parents intervene when the school is not informing the parents properly! Also the principal will not believe your child if the child struggles a lot, all he sees is a “bad kid” and will never believe and be on the child’s side. He lies and says he has scenarios on camera when in fact he does not. The principal does not help his students at all. You would think being a pastor he would have more empathy and problem solving. This school has an amazing concept and athletic program. But we need todo better as an administration and as a teacher team. I have spoken to other families who have similar experiences with the principal and this school, so I am not alone on this. I hope this review will be taken as constructive criticism todo better. Thank you.

  • Champion is the Best!

    ,

Thanks to all of the teachers here for making champion the best school around!
  • I take pride in this school and my kids do too!

    ,

I have 3 kids that have attended Champion San Tan since it opened 2 years ago! I love being part of something so new and fresh and, just like any other business or organization, there WILL be growing pains. They have learned a lot and have made the necessary changes to improve. I have a 5th grader, a 2nd grader, and a kindergartner. Ms. Rasmussen, Ms. Campos, and Ms. Banks are their teachers and I wouldn't have it any other way! Ms. Banks took over Kinder in my sons class a few months into the school year because the school recognized the need for a change, and they made it, and she made my kindergartner enjoy school and have a positive experience. I can't say enough about Ms. Campos, the 2nd grade teacher that we were so lucky to have. She is patient and kind and doesn't mess around. She challenges my son and takes the time that each child needs to help them succeed. Ms. Rassmusen is one the 5th grade teachers and she is amazing too! From the get go she made herself available to the parents and I love having the open communication that she provides. Every day she sends parents information about the homework so we don't feel lost if we need to help our students. Mr Boen, 4th grade teacher, came to Champion and made a huge garden that he used as a teaching tool for the kids. They condition the soil, plant the seeds, care for it while it is growing, and then they have a veggie stand after school and at the games. They see the fruits of their labor. There isn't enough space here to express the love I have for all the staff. All three of my kids are bus riders. The bus system went from hectic to more controlled this year. Sure, they have gone through several bus/van drivers but Christine, the transportation coordinator (she probably has many titles, not just driver/coordinator) has implemented so many positive changes and has made the process of transportation so much easier. The bus broke down a few weeks ago and I was informed right away and when I got to bus to pick up my kids, Christine already was there, with another driver and the two school vans, to pick up the kids and drop them home. There are going to be issues at ANY school and I appreciate that Champion has taken the steps to correct the things that haven't gone their way. Sure, the "shooting" incident was not a positive experience but they put the clear backpacks in place and held a parent meeting to share all the information about it. I know that if I have issues I can speak to the principle and administration at any time, because they care about my kids and they want each one of their students to succeed.
